This is War
Current mood: cold

It is really. You're home, minding you're own business, having tea with the cat to which you remain the happy surrogate parent of (surrogate parent or pet-napper, depending on how the unknown neighbors react when they find out where "Boots" - who you of course renamed - has been for the past few months.) There you are, watching 101 yet again, wondering why you weren't born with the last name Gahan, when you get the call. In two days you move to begin the record.

Quickly, throw the supplies in the car, grab the weapons you need to take on Hollywood, say goodbye to Cake the cat and leave David playing for the neighbors. That's how it works.

It works both ways. I'm going home. At first I was given no time to tie up my Socal relations and obligations but grace was granted. Sammy has left the Lake and has granted me two nights in this amazing home that sits above it. Nils and I had a slumber party. I guess in that respect if this is war, I'm Mr. President because you don't get these kinda accomodations on the frontline. I do know the dirt will come sooner than late, but for now can I really complain when TV on the Radio is slinking from speakers directed through some magical Itunes connection? Nils and I had green tea, on a wooden table, over looking the blue lake. Adjectives. Pleasant adjectives. Not too bad.

We awoke around one thirty after a very early morning of picking at Mom's vegan pumpkin, chocolate chip cookies over conversations questioning why is it we end up giving our time to people who find the sound of running water annoying. I think we could play house here forever but Sammy might not be pleased to return home with his family to find two long haired boys, one in Calvin Klines and a questionably pornographic t shirt, and the other with spooky tattoos on an obscenely naked torso crawling above the very longjohns given to Sammy by his wife. Sorry man. It will probably be best for us to vacate before then. Wouldn't want to send the family into therapy. Plus, I believe Nils has to be at school on Monday, and I have plenty to do. There is of course a record to deliver and tours to be gone on. Then there's the whole issue of simply going home...

So, I'm gonna close it up here in the wood. I think we'll say goodbye to our friends and favorite foods at the vegan restaraunt that has become my daily provider. Maybe we'll throw in some Pete's to get a taste of the bay back in me. I'm going to try to say some last goodbyes as though I won't be back down here in a matter of weeks, throw the spent shells and amassed shoes, make up and cd's into the car and head back home. I'll let you all know if anything happens between now and then.

from someone else's home,
DXH
