Artist's Comments
Warm night of august, four years ago, I was roller skating in my native town, but had to stop because the ground was covered by millions of those white butterflies, dying.
I started to think about their weird life. Short-living butterflies, born in the daylight of a beautiful summer morning, wasting a whole day flying around and playing with sun rays, then at dusk, falling down in the twilight of a street lamp to die on the floor... No wonder about the next day, no wonder about anything, just breathing light, getting drunk on air in a one-day life made of only pleasure.
---
The making of this painting was much of an experiment. I started with a sketch on paper, that I transfered on canvas using paper masks, filled up the whole canvas using airbrushed acrylic paint (it took me about one week). But later I started to paint over with oil and brushes, and step by step covered almost the whole canvas with oil paint. Touching it up from time to time, it finally took me about 3 years to finish it!

the whole concept of this piece is beautiful, i mean the fact that he was moved by the short lives of the butterflies to paint ths is really cool...the piece has so much feeling, how could i not post this
Re: Ephemere by `zancan(Deviant ID)
My only problem with this piece, is that the street-lamp, isn't perpendicular to the gorund (even at this particular view).
Re: Ephemere by `zancan(Deviant ID)
well i think he was going for a sort of warped theme, f you look at the bricks and other elements u may see this
Re: Ephemere by `zancan(Deviant ID)
wow, i would have never noticed that it wasnt perpendicular to the ground.
its obviously how the world looks to the dieing things.
or the curve of the earth could be said to play a part in it.
butterflies? i thought the were rainflies.
altogether awsome piece with everyhign perpendicular

wow for the first, Geo never mentioned dragons. Well since u won't I will. It wud've looked better if they were dragons. lol.
Neways, it's an ok piece, not half as good as the lady with the sword but it's good none the less......I guess. And Snyper, ur a little tooo uptight, so the paintings not perfect, appreciate the beauty dude.

You are entitled to your own opinions, and I likewise, hence the reason why the administrator created the thread to begin with. You need to relax as well. I didn't say that it was bad piece of artwork, you implied it.xxxxxDeath metal kid Maxx wrote:And Snyper, ur a little tooo uptight, so the paintings not perfect, appreciate the beauty dude.

Some body shoot him, or stab him in the heart, please, somebody.
Back to you Snyper, my apologies for misuderstanding, but I think that it's best to look at the whole picture and not it's flaws.
