Uche: is a nigerian name that originated from a tribe called the igbos.
The christian name 'uche' means god's wisdom / god's mind. Uche is a unisex name and popular in my country.
pronunciation: U-slient word
che- long word

The pronounciation that I get from this is: " chhhe" . Is this correct?

I was then advised to say "OO chay" instead.

The name is indeed a beautiful one, but I'm seeing way too much contradicting stuff on it (online).

yeah, snyper, got it rite, but the U uses only one "O" not two. Remember the sound is 'u' is silent.
Or usually lady chanae calls me chinedu.

I didn't see the fact that you edited your post, before I had posted. Now it appears as if the "u", is no longer silent then, or would I use a really short "o"?

I don't understand what you mean by 'silent' then, especially since you say it would be the long variation. I'm thinking about a 0.2 second pause, followed by a "chay".

I've just practiced saying this 5 times for both letters. I even played the audio on wikipedia, so I'd respond with a definate 'yes'.
